If you successfully detach a Petpetpet and it is returned to your inventory, there will be a 24-hour timeframe in which the Petpetpet will not reattach to ANY Petpet, including the one it just detached from, or your current active pet. After that 24-hour period, the chances of Petpetpets attaching to your Petpet returns to normal.
